Kevin Spacey gives a defence testimony in a civil case.

As the first witness in his own defence in the sexual misconduct case Anthony Rapp is bringing against Kevin Spacey, the actor has taken the witness stand.

Spacey said that Rapp's accusations are untrue in answer to the first query posed by his lawyer, Chase Scolnick.

Attorneys for actor Anthony Rapp concluded their case against Spacey earlier.

Judge Lewis Kaplan allowed the defense's request to have an allegation of intentional infliction of mental distress dismissed on Monday, giving Spacey a significant win.

"I was quite outraged because I would never have done anything to harm the LGBT community. In retrospect, I understood it."

On Tuesday morning, the trial will resume, and Spacey is anticipated to undergo cross-examination.
